Our Standards

Training and Education

All members have completed a 12-week training that included the following:

  1. Developmental stages of late life
  2. Anti-Oppression and Cultural Competency
  3. Topics related to Depression among the elderly
  4. How to detect signs of Alzheimer’s disease
  5. Elder abuse prevention and intervention
  6. Activities and Exercises that can be utilized to stimulate an elder person’s physical, emotional, cognitive and mental condition.
  7. Skill building training on effective and positive communication between companion, elder client, family members and other caretakers.

Certification

  1. Adult CPR and First Aid
  2. Nutrition and food preparation.
  3. “Preventing Falls” Workshop.

  2. Members have received a physical examination.

The members are committed to ongoing learning. They have instituted a training
committee that assesses for new learning needs within the cooperative and plans for
monthly workshops, trainings, and seminars.
